Filter and Dust Bag Maintenance

For units equipped with a cage filter and a dust bag, it’s essential to clean the filter whenever you replace the dust bag. This practice helps maintain the vacuum cleaner’s suction power and extends its lifespan.

Dust Bag Replacement

The dust bag cannot be washed or emptied; it must be replaced with a new one. If you notice a drop in suction power, it may indicate that the bag is full and needs replacing. As a general guideline:

  • For a 3.75-gallon (17 L) unit, replace the bag every 6 to 12 months.
  • For a 9-gallon (41 L) unit, replace the bag every 12 to 18 months.

Important:

  • Never use the system without a bag.
  • Never replace the bag while the unit is running.

Filter Cleaning

The filter can be washed in a washing machine, but do not use a dryer. Ensure the filter is completely dry before reuse. To minimize downtime, consider having a second filter to alternate during cleaning.

Procedure for Replacing the Bag and Cleaning the Filter

  1. Detach the latches from the canister.
  2. Remove and dispose of the old bag.
  3. Clean or wash the filter as needed and hang it to dry.
  4. Place the clean filter back in the unit.
  5. Insert a new dust bag.
  6. Reattach the canister to the main unit.
